Cultural Programmes: Nangyarkooth by Kapila Venu
Nangyar Kuthu is an allied traditional art of Kutiyattam, an age old Sanskrit drama tradition of India. It is performed traditionally by the women of the Ambalavasi Nambiar community of Kerala, known as Nangyaramma; but has transcended the caste barrier since the second half of the 20th century.
Smt. Kapila Venu is the daughter of Mohiniyattam danseuse Nirmala Panicker and Kutiyattam exponent Gopalan Nair Venu. She is the disciple of legendary Kutiyattam maestro Guru Ammannur Madhava Chakyar. She has also trained in Kutiyattam under G. Venu and Usha Nangiar and is presently training under Kitangur CN Raman Chakyar.
